Washington, D.C – Today, Faith in Public Life Action—a leading organization advocating for justice, inclusion, and equity and a multifaith, multiracial democracy—proudly endorses Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President of the United States. At a time when democracy, human rights, and justice are on the line, a Harris-Walz ticket represents a powerful commitment to addressing these critical issues with integrity and vision.
“Throughout her career, Kamala Harris has faced difficult leadership choices and has used discernment, informed by values we share with her, to navigate complicated and imperfect situations,” said Jeanné Lewis, CEO of Faith in Public Life Action Fund. “As faith leaders, we know that road; we know the challenge of being faced with multiple imperfect options and still needing to choose and lead others through tough situations.
“We know from our faith traditions that God does not require perfection of us; instead, God invites us to live in communities of faith that hold one another accountable when we inevitably make mistakes. Our faith traditions teach us to hold our leaders accountable with the rigor the moment demands while staying in community with them. Leadership is hard and complicated – faith leaders know this deeply. When deciding to endorse a leader, we are, in turn, committing to pushing that leader to hold those values as they navigate the position.”
Faith in Public Life Action operates nationally and in three target states: Florida, Georgia, and Ohio. The values and vision of the Harris-Walz campaign align with Faith in Public Life Action’s mission to ensure that our full humanity is valued and protected by law. We call on people of faith across communities and across traditions to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in their campaign and to join us in this transformative effort to protect our democracy, safeguard our health, and ensure our collective human dignity.
