Faith in Public Life Action CEO on President Trump’s 2024 POTUS Bid

Washington, DC – The 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, has announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election in the wake of the 2022 midterm elections.

Jeanné Lewis, Interim CEO of Faith in Public Life Action

“Donald Trump has recently named he is running, again, for the Presidency of the United States. More than ever, people of faith must work together to ensure we live in a nation, and in a democracy, that ensures every person has the ability to live in the dignity that God wants for all of us.

In 2020, we saw under Trump a coordinated threat against the very freedoms we hold dear, including Americans being able to elect our President at the ballot box rather than a powerful few deciding who should run the country. From the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol to some states working to purge voting rosters and make voting less accessible, another four years under his leadership will be the antithesis of a nation that has the safe, free and fair elections we all deserve.

Fortunately, the American people know the importance of saving, protecting and fortifying our democracy. In six battleground states where Trump attempted to overturn his 2020 defeat, all election-denying candidates who ran for positions that would impact future elections lost. Voters in Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Georgia rejected a group of candidates who were invested in dismantling our democracy. Together, we can reject the lies and manipulation of those using the government for their own personal gain and build a true representative government that is decided by the people.

While we have the Georgia U.S. Senate race left, and we urge all eligible to vote and fully participate in the process, it’s not too soon to look to 2024 and begin working to make sure our elections reflect the will of the people rather than being manipulated by those who want to hoard power for themselves and their supporters.”
